Internal column ensures dome support from the weight of snow and curious animals, such as bears, when walking on the lid.
The aluminum cross-bar and frame give extra reinforcement to the side walls and water pressure.
The new DT-645 IG guzzler provides a 645 gallon, in-ground water source for animals at ground level..
The drinking area measures 28" x 50 and is 19" deep.. Deer and elk with larger racks can easily drink over the edge. Smaller animals can use the built-in access ramp to access water. 80% of the tank remains covered to minimize evaporation and keep the water clean.
Four integrated domes collect and channel rainwater into the 650-gallon reservoir below. The four dome lid is supported from beneath by PVC column to ensure structural rigidity. 6 bolts lock lid into place.
The 53 sq ft surface area will collect rain at a rate 33 gallons per one inch of rain. To increase the rain collection surface area, add a collection roof. To see roof plans, go to Support>Collection Roof Plans. You always have the option to hand fill. This gravity-feed system is very durable, is freeze tolerant and requires no-float valves. Since the lid is bolted down, you should consider reducing the water level during long periods of hard freezes to prevent damage from expanding ice.
